“Those who are gracious to the poor lend to the Lord and the Lord will fully repay them”
– Proverbs 19:17
Guided by Jesus’ “Great Commandment”, to love God with all our heart, soul and mind, and to love or neighbors as ouselves, we reach out to others in a variety of ways. We support a number of local and global mission efforts through our denomination, the United Church of Christ.
We continue to support local food ministries by collecting non-perishable food and household items each Sunday. Many of the items are available in the Sharing Shed in the parking lot of 69 Wolfe Ave. in Beacon Falls. The shed is open daily for those in need from Beacon Falls and surrounding communities. Other items are used in individual deliveries which include fresh food items. If you wish to donate, the church office is open Tuesday and Thursday mornings and for Sunday service. Items most needed include toilet paper, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, soap, body wash, toothpaste, toothbrushes, laudry detergent, grabage bags, dog and cat food, and household cleaning items.
We are a 5 for 5 UCC church with support for Our Church’s Wider Mission Basic Support and the Special Mission Offerings: One Great Hour of Sharing, Strengthen The Church, Neighbors In Need and The Christmas Fund. These special collections provide emergency assistance to retired clergy through the Christmas Fund, disaster relief after a hurricane through One Great Hour of Sharing, or supporting regional camps through OCWM Basic Support.
Around Mother’s Day we collect diaper and other supplies to support the New Haven Diaper Bank.
When the weather turns cold, we collect winter coats to assist Loaves and Fishes in New Haven in their mission to provide warm clothing for those in need. This year it kicks off Sunday, November 9th and runs through Sunday, December 28th. Please drop off gently used coats, gloves, hats, and scarves as well as new undergarments, undershirts and socks.
We collect back packs filled with clothing, toys, books and other emergency supplies for the CT Alliance for Foster and Adoptive Families throughout the year. We have also assisted them with Angel Tree gifts at Christmas.
